Neighborhood Food Pathways Fund Application

United Way of New York City (UWNYC) is pleased to launch a special one-time grant opportunity: Neighborhood Food Pathways Fund. The fund has been launched to expand distribution models in hard-to-reach communities in targeted New York City neighborhoods. Community Based Organizations (CBOs) which are currently funded, in good standing with UWNYC and presently serve these communities are eligible to apply:

 
  • Bronx: Soundview / Bruckner / Bronx River; University Heights (South) / Morris Heights; Mount Eden / Claremont (West)
  • Brooklyn: Bensonhurst, Borough Park, Bay Ridge
  • Manhattan: Washington Heights (South), East Harlem (South), Harlem (North)
  • Queens: Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Flushing / Willets Point
  • Staten Island: Great Kills / Eltingville, Mariner’s Harbor / Arlington / Graniteville, New Dorp / Midland Beach

ABAWD Volunteer Site Opportunity

  • The NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) team, in partnership with City Harvest, Food Bank For NYC, and United Way of New York City, is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, February 25 2026 from 10:30AM – 11:30AM for Emergency Food Providers that are interested in becoming a qualified volunteer site for ABAWD SNAP recipients. Changing federal requirements effective March 1, 2026 puts thousands of NYC SNAP recipients at risk to lose SNAP benefits. The emergency food system, at the front lines of feeding vulnerable New Yorkers each day, is uniquely positioned to offer volunteer opportunities to help mitigate this risk.
  • In this webinar, HRA will outline the process and criteria for applying to be a volunteer site, ongoing administration and reporting requirements, and answer any questions. The webinar will be recorded for later viewing.

Emergency Briefing: SNAP Work Requirements & Updates

  • The purpose of this briefing is to provide updates on the March 1 SNAP work requirements, ongoing impacts of H.R. 1, updates on the Farm Bill markup and SNAP advocacy actions. Tune in to hear from NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) and national and state advocates about important SNAP developments. This webinar is hosted by: Human Services Council of New York (HSC), LiveOn NY, NY Health Foundation, The Supportive Housing Network of NY (SHNNY) and United Way of New York City.

Powering Possibility Utility Assistance Application

United Way of New York City (UWNYC), in partnership with National Grid Foundation, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity for community based organizations providing utility assistance to households in Queens.
This grant supports direct utility assistance payments to National Grid and Con Edison customer accounts to help residents reduce arrears and prevent shutoffs and stabilize housing. Funds may only be used for direct utility payments and cannot be used for operating or administrative expenses.
Eligible organizations must be 501c (3) nonprofits servicing Queens residents and have at least one year of experience providing direct utility assistance.

Seed Grant Application

United Way of New York City is pleased to announce that the 2026 Seed Grant Application will be open starting December 19, 2026. NYC based non-profit organizations are invited to submit projects that develop or improve nutrition education programs or urban farming initiatives that incorporate nutrition or culinary education for low-income individuals. This is a 12-month grant running from April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027. Selected projects may receive up to $30,000.

Note: past Seed Grant recipients from 2020 onwards will be ineligible to participate in this grant cycle. Seed Grant funding cannot be used for food purchases, operating, expansion, or start-up costs for food pantries, soup kitchens, or other Emergency Feeding Programs (EFPs). Applications requesting funds for food, food distribution, or the operation/startup of EFPs will be automatically disqualified.

Step 2: Download Required 1) Project Goals and 2) Budget Proposal templates. NOTE: there are character limits in the “Project Goals” form to keep responses brief and to the point

Step 3: Apply HERE (You must have all supporting documents ready on-hand before beginning the online application form. We suggest drafting your responses to the questions noted in the Application Guideline offline, then entering them when you have all the required documents ready to submit.)

Applications are due Thursday January 22, 2026.
