New SNAP Work Requirements
The NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) team, in partnership with City Harvest, Food Bank For NYC, and United Way of New York City, hosted a webinar on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 for Emergency Food Providers interested in becoming a qualified volunteer site for ABAWD SNAP recipients who may be subject to new work requirements. Changing federal requirements effective March 1, 2026 puts thousands of NYC SNAP recipients at risk to lose SNAP benefits. The emergency food system, at the front lines of feeding vulnerable New Yorkers each day, is uniquely positioned to offer volunteer opportunities to help mitigate this risk.
